Sailing the Caribbean

Caribbean: sailing heaven

The waters surrounding Caribbean lands display all shades from azure through turquoise to emerald and move with a gentle swell to the pulse of the Atlantic Ocean. North-eastern trade winds push the waves westward and the murmur of the ocean reaches through the coral reefs to fill some of the best natural harbours in the world.
Competition sailors come for year-round racing regattas for which we can organize their participation but most of our visitors are content to do a sailing cruise, dropping anchor in an isolated bay so that they can swim in crystal clear water and enjoy a picnic lunch.

If you want to see the deeper corals but do not dive, most boats are equipped with snorkelling gear. Some are also equipped with all scuba diving and deep sea fishing gear. On option, kayaks and windsurf are a good way to reach remoter snorkelling areas.
Whether you are looking for a quiet sail around our beautiful coasts, a rum cruise or a sea adventure, the Caribbean is your first port of call.

Weather
In the Caribbean area winds generally blow from an east to north-easterly direction. During the winter months, winds blow on average between 15-25 knots (Force 3-6). Average daily temperatures are between 22-30°C, temperatures can, however, rise during the summer months. Evening temperatures drop slightly but remain warm and comfortable throughout the night.

Sailing the Indian Ocean

The Seychelles.

Over one hundred islands set in the middle of the Indian Ocean, a thousand miles from the nearest land mass, the Seychelles are jewels of nature, mostly uninhabited, undiscovered by tourism. This is one of the finest sailing areas in the world.

The southern winter, April through October, is the best time to sail. There is more rain in the summer season, November to April, but the tropical showers are cooling and end quickly. Since the islands lie outside the cyclone belt, storms are rare. The Seychelles abound in spectacular vistas, exotic wildlife, pristine beaches, and warm hospitality.

It is absolutely true that there is nowhere else in the world quite like these islands lost in time.
